To my knowledge, Crimebusters went out of business, I don't know how long ago, perhaps due to "shady tactics" as you put it. Mike (at GotADT.com) is who I got my alarm through, and I am monitored by ADT. Overall, I've had nothing but a good experience with both Mike and ADT for the past 4 or so years that I've had it. Last year we had a problem with a motion sensor. I think it needed to be calibrated because we had a couple of false alarms, but they got somebody out quick to fix it, and it's been fine ever since. I love the peace of mind having the system provides, especially with my young children. I really like the chime anytime a door or window is opened anywhere in the house, so there's no way my kids can go outside without my knowing. Excellent!! I wish monitoring cost a little less, but who doesn't. It's still a good value.
